"Wonderful area heater" 2010-03-06
By L. Esp.. (LAS VEGAS, NV United States)
I have used these small heaters in my bathroom for years...Ive tried Pelonis, Holmes and Honeywell...My favorite is Pelonis unfortunately I cannot find them anymore..The Pelonis heater has worked for years but only because I've taken better care of it than I did the Holmes heater.. TIP ***Use your blow dryer to blow out lint often and a very long soft brush to keep vents clear of lint.....This will help heater to have a much longer life ...I found that on all of the above brand heaters, they will shut off when using HI HEAT setting but on medium setting they will run for hours and heat will flow into the next room...In the winter mine will remain on for hours providing inexpensive warmth*****Make sure lint does not build up and they are well ventillated****

"Great little heater for small area" 2010-02-08
By J. Hill
My son is a college student and shares a house with several other people. The bedrooms do not come equipped with adequate or inexpensive heating. I purchased this for him and it works wonderfully. Keeps his room nice and toasty.

"No frills" 2009-12-21
By Hunter Crawford
Very basic and extremely cheaply made. I had it on a desk to heat the room; it was vibrating so much it fell and no longer works. I tried to turn it on again and it got bright red and started smelling burnt. So it works on the floor only!

I like the heater. It is small, but it really heats my dining room, which is not small. I hope in the winter when it is very cold, I will have the same results.

"ONLY HEATS OBJECTS IT"S POINTED AT!" 2010-08-29
By R. kossak (southwest boonies)
In some 5 star reviews, they mention how well it works if you stay in one spot. For me that is a disadvantage because I move around with a room alot. This heater will only heat objects which will then eventually heat the air around the object. That seems to me a inefficiant way of heating a room. If you sit right in front of the heater within a distance of maybe 6-8 feet, nothing works better. But if you move out of that spot, it's cold. However, keeping in mind that it heats objects, I attempted to heat an 8'x8' shed to 80%-85% because I was raising crickets, while the night time temperatures were getting down to 60%. I put the heater in the middle of the shed and pointed it to a flat piece of steel about 1'-2' away. I turned it on low and was able to heat the shed up to a max 80%. The piece of steel got so hot that you couldn't touch it, but it heated the air which is what I needed, but there is another disadvantage. There is no thermostat, so the heater was on continuously and there was no way to fine tune the amount of heating meaning it can very easily overheat as well as underheat, plus, if there is a power outage even for a second, the heater goes off and stays off, and that was a big concern for me. I eventually settled on a "base board heater" which is very efficient and accurate.

Works great as a spot heater for the garage! It feels like you're standing in summer sunlight.

"Worked great... for five months" 2010-04-03
By Andrae Covington (Portland, OR)
This was a good heater while it lasted. I used it at my computer desk at home to supplement the furnace; often I just relied on this heater alone. I live in an old house with little to no insulation, so warming surfaces (including me) vs trying to warm the air seemed like the way to go. The brightness does take some getting used to, I placed mine on the floor off to the side. This heater uses a halogen heating element shining back towards the aluminum reflective dish, so as bright as it is, you are not looking directly at the halogen bulb unless you make a concerted effort at a strange angle. I used both the high and low settings as needed. If you have exposed skin within two or three feet of the heater (in direct line with the heat), the high setting will start to turn your skin red. I never had a problem while wearing long pants and long-sleeve shirts though. I did not use the oscillation feature as I was sitting in one place and always wanted the heat on me. If I got warm enough that it felt uncomfortable, I turned the heater off for a while. As my review title says, everything was great for about five months. Then I went to turn it on and saw a poof of light, then nothing; just like what usually happens when a light bulb burns out. I took the wire screen off so I could get a better look at the heating element, which sits behind a small aluminum disc. It is more robust than a typical halogen bulb, and appears to be hardwired. Clearly the manufacturer did not intend for consumers to replace the heating element. I checked their website and could not find replacement parts. One reviewer claimed the halogen element should last 3-5 years if you don't shake or move the heater around. Obviously this was not my experience. Pretty expensive for five months of use. There is a one-year warranty, but it does not include "5) Freight and Insurance cost for the warranty service." Right. By the time I paid to ship the thing to them... and presumably also paid for shipping the replacement back to me? ... might as well buy another one. Typical throw-away-society example. Disappointing, but not too surprising.

DeLonghi DCH4590ER 1,500-Watt Ceramic Heater with Remote Control

Product By DeLonghi(50 customers reviews)
Lowest Price : $49.99
Product Description
A great money-saving alternative to heating the entire home, this energy-efficient space heater features a ceramic heating element for quickly and safely warming a room. Its user-friendly digital control panel, along with the included full-function remote control, allows for easily selecting from a variety of settings. Choose from heating, anti-freeze, or ventilation mode with a simple press of the button. In heating mode, the unit offers an adjustable thermostat and three power levels: "min" for reduced noise and energy consumption, "max" for heating a room quickly, and "auto" where the appliance automatically determines the operating power based on the ambient conditions. The unit's base can be set to oscillate for evenly distributing heat, while its tip-over safety switch automatically turns the heater off if it falls over accidentally. In anti-freeze mode, the appliance keeps the room at a temperature of 45 degrees F to prevent freezing temperatures, and in ventilation mode, choose from "min" or "max" fan-only speeds for air circulation without the heat. The unit's 24-hour digital timer, which can be used in any operating mode, makes it possible for the unit to automatically turn on or off after a specific amount of time--great for heating the kitchen in the morning before work or having the unit turn itself off an hour after bedtime. Two AAA batteries for the remote control come included. Other highlights include a removable anti-dust filter, a power indicator light, and a sleek-looking design. Perfect for chilly days at home or the office, the 1500-watt ceramic heater measures 7 by 9-4/5 by 13-2/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

"Annoying "BEEP"" 2010-07-16
By Joseph G. Hughes (hampton, Virginia USA)
The Delonghi heater works fine, however; each time the unit is turned on, off or adjusted it produces a shrill "beep" similar to an alarm. The extremly loud sound actually peirces your ear.I work in a quiet office and adjust the heater many times during the day. Co-workers are complaining about this annoying distraction. Everyone knows when I get chilly. No way to disable this alarm and no mention in the advertisement about the beeping. Now I have to spend the money to return the heater. What a crazy feature for this company to add to their heaters.

"Style Over Function" 2010-03-30
By Zack523 (Seattle, WA USA)
I have to weigh on the ongoing debate whether this device is a loud as a hair dryer or not. My vote: It is definitely as loud as a hair dryer. Actually, it is possibly louder than a hair dryer, because my unit (which sits on a hardwood floor) shakes the floor slightly when it is running, filling the room with a low-pitched booming noise, in addition to the din of the fan itself. I purchased this heater because I have owned a DeLonghi oil-filled radiator for years which has given excellent service. Unfortunately, this new DeLonghi fan heater has been a disappointment. It does look nice, and it has a remote control. It puts out plenty of heat, so that's good. The downsides: there is the noise factor. And the shaking, although you might not notice that if you had carpeting. (I put it on a towel.) It also makes loud and pointless beeping noises whenever you press a button or move it. Finally, even after a year of use, it emits out a toxic chemical smell for the first minute or two after it is turned on. It's not cheap. There must be better choices out there if you want a fan heater.

"ELECTRIC HEATER WITH REMOTE" 2010-03-23
By Spindler Krause Jr. (YORKTOWN, VA.)
PACKED WELL AND SAFELY. WELL BUILT WITH OSCULATING FEATURE AND OTHER CONVENIENT OPTIONS. HOWEVER, THERMOMETER SETTING IS NOT WORKING FOR ME. I'VE READ AND REREAD THE INSTRUCTIONS [3 LANGUAGES]..I'D STILL RECOMMEND THIS HEATER. THE REMOTE WORKS FINE. BUT, I CAN'T USE THE THERMOSTAT VERY WELL. I JUST TURN IT ON AND OFF WHEN NEEDED..

"Great Heater - Worth the price" 2010-06-16
By E. Huelsmeier (Sedona, AZ USA)
We needed a heater that could heat a single room instead of having to run our central heating for just one room. After researching the infrared(IF), 'soft heat' type heaters, like those shown in the Eden-Pure commercials, we tried two. While neither was an Eden-Pure, they were the same technology. One purchased from Sears($300) heated OK but the fan was very noisy so we returned it. The 2nd was a CZ(Comfort Zone) top-of-the-line unit($450) from Earthwise that kept cycling on and off during both the warm-up period & during temperature maintenance, and after getting the run around from their customer service about getting a replacement, even though it was a known problem, we just returned it within the 30-day return period(and still had to pay $40 for return shipping). Then a friend turned me on to the Vornado. After researching the Vornado online, we bought one from Amazon(best price!) and couldn't be more satisfied. The heater does what it's supposed to do and it does it well. It's air circulation design heats the room quickly(better than the IF heaters) and the thermostat maintains the temp nicely. With the exception of a slight fan noise, it performed every bit as well, if not better, than the much more expensive IF units, plus it's much smaller & lighter. And for just over $80, it was a bargain compared to the others we tried(it almost makes up for the return shipping on the IF unit!). We definitely recommend this heater!

"Better fan and circulation than older model" 2010-05-28
By G. Balmes (Washington)
I have an older Vornado ( model EH1-0015 INTELLITEMP) which has to be at least 10 years old. After dragging it out of storage, I noticed than inside the fan, all the workings inside had become caked with dust and grime. Though the unit still worked fine, I decided to retire it for safety reasons. I wanted to stick with the Vornado brand and did some research here on Amazon and finally decided on the AVH2 model. Actually it is very similar to my old unit in that on top, there is a manual setting on the dial of the temperature you wish to keep the room at 65-90 (see my customer pic)a High-Low Heat, and High-Auto Fan. So it appears that this , the AVH2 is just a second or third generation of my older unit. I noticed that this model has a more powerful fan than my older unit and the heating element, thought does not glow red, puts out more heat too. It's now the end of May and have not used this heater other to test the functions (I purchased this on an online auction site) I will offer any updates when colder weather comes but of what I have just noticed on a general inspection, this heater is much improved over it's older sipling.

This heater works great in my old drafty house! It really circulates the air and is very quiet!

"I love this heater!" 2010-03-11
By Topaz Fire
This small space heater is very efficient and quiet. The plastic grill never overheats and so is safe to the touch. Also, the room gets nice and toasty without being hot and dry. I've had mine for a while now and although it may seem pricey, it's worth the price. I really do love my heater! :) (The reviewer was compensated for posting this review. However, the opinion stated in the review is that of the reviewer and the reviewer alone. Further, the reviewer independently selected this product to review and has no affiliation with the product maker/distributor, Amazon or the review requester.)

"SOLD! - with many doubts at first waiting to see how long it last" 2010-03-10
By C. Tucker (Texas)
My home office space continues to be colder then remainder of the house. Needed something that would keep the warm air moving, quiet, safe and efficient. I have tried several forced air space heaters (and definitely some of those digital crap shoots) with an additional small fan to keep the air moving. After "blowing" through several space heaters and fans (fan motor in each always first to go) I was looking for a better alternative (safety first and overall comfort with added efficiency) - Found Vornado!
* Blows a constant warm temperature without being too hot
* Slows down automatically at the right time to still keep the gentle comfort of warm air
* It does simply what is stated, you get rid of the constant cycle of HOT to cold and keeps a good warm air circulation
* Easy controls with no guess work
* Quiet (does not come across in conference calls on High and barely can hear on low)
* Does perfect for my needs so far - At this time seems well worth extra cost in efficiency, safety and comfort
* Cannot comment on overall longevity or long term reliability, if does not live up to the extra cost I will update my post.
I do not mind saying, if paying extra for quality product then so be it, MADE IN USA - all the better... it is not every day I can find both, I really hope I will not be let down.

"Tippy" 2010-08-20
By J-Pen (WV)
Thermostat is acurate, unlike other heaters we've tried. But the tall slim desighn isn't very stable. We have it on an old wood floor that's slightly warped but when the heaters on "fan rotation mode" it tends to wobble and tip over eventually. Aside from that heats a 10 X 10 foot room from 55 to 65 in about an hour. And maintains the temp well through the night. It's also quite!

"Lasko no heater" 2010-08-13
By N. Gallagher (San Francisco, CA United States)
Heater did not work right out of the box. Blew air but no heat. Not sure why people have said it's so quiet. My old Vornado was much quieter. So I returned the non functioning heater and ordered the Vornado and am very pleased with it! Props to Amazon for making the return and refund fast and easy! Wish other businesses functioned this well!!

"The best heater!" 2010-06-16
By Sara Mckerrihan (Lake Tahoe, CA)
I really love this heater. I have had it now for a few months. It is for my bedroom and I was worried about sound. It has been very quiet, the fan is quiet and the oscillation doesn't make any noise at all. The settings work very well, the remote is a great thing because you don't have to get out of bed to turn it off. The timer is also very helpful because this way you don't accidentally leave it on. It is also energy efficient. It is really light weight but stable. It has a great handle so it is really easy to move. Also, it heats up my smallish room really quick. I really love it, couldn't want anything better.

"Perfect!" 2010-06-05
By amazon
This heater really could not be better. It is compact, so takes up little space and can easily be moved around. Despite its size, it heats up a room in a matter of minutes. It even allows you to set the temperature you'd like the room. It has noticeably reduced my heating bill as I can often solely rely on it to heat my home. The remote is also very handy. I highly recommend this heater.

"Econo Heaters are GREAT" 2010-03-25
By Mrs. Sharon L. Meeks (GA, USA)
My husband and I purchased a home in Ohio and went there this past winter. We have a wonderful propane heater that worked well but oh did it cost us! I had purchased 6 of these heaters and decided to put one of them up. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the propane heater came on less, so I put up two more in this 12 x 17 very open room (I left the one up for a month before I put the other two up). They kept the room and the adjoining large room at a consistent 66 degrees when the temperature outside was in the low 20's and below. But, the ultimate decision to continue using these was to be made when the electric bill came out. When we received the electric bill I had had one heater plugged in 24/7 and our electric bill rose $5.00. I was shocked. Wow, these are the best of the best in my opinion. Now we have 5 of them up and I will order 3 more for other rooms. I will be heating a 1,500 sq. ft., 1 1/2 story with these. For once, I've purchased something that really does work as well as the company says it does.

"Awesome alternative to the 1500 forced air heater." 2010-03-15
By Mr. Todd
Don't expect it to warm a room quickly, but add a timer and your office will be toasty and keep its temp well in the winter. I used it in a 10x10 room and it worked well. I would not put this in a room with vaulted ceilings though or bigger than recommended.

"Not enough information..." 2010-03-04
By Edwin C. Anker IV (Wynantskill, NY)
I purchased an eco-heater for a renovation project we are doing at our house. I was about ready to install the product and read through the instructions included in the package which indicate that this product is not to be used in a bathroom area. Not only that, but I installed the outlet for the unit to be located behind the panel so that the cord would be out of sight. According to the instructions, this is also not permitted. I did a lot of research on the Eco-Heat website before I purchased the product and no-where on the website does it state that the product cannot be used in wet areas or that the plug has to be exposed. As a matter of fact, none of the pictures and graphics on thier website (or any website for that matter) show a cord coming from the unit. I'm a pretty handy guy and wired/plumbed my whole new kitchen, so I know my way around electrical appliances. This...so far...is not making me happy. I'm trying to contact Eco-Heat to find out if I can use this thing at all. Stay tuned...

"THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK" 2010-03-03

I purchased two of these to heat a 10X12 room. They barely raise the temp by 5 degrees. When hanging them three out of the eight attachment points failed so they sag. What a waste of money

"This is a toasty product in the best sense of the word." 2010-02-23
By Elissa Kartman (San Leandro, CA USA)
I love this little wall heater. It's unobtrusive, quiet, efficient, and IT WORKS perfectly. It's on or it's off. The room toasts up nicely. I couldn't be happier. Wish I'd had one years and years ago. It will not heat a whole house. It is room specific, but worth the money.

Great heater! I bought it because of the brand name. I had a Holmes InstaFurnace in my office for about 10 year. When it finally quit working, I wanted the same one which isn't made anymore. Not sure if this one will last as long, but so far, it heats better.

Amazon.com Review

Banish the chills this winter with the energy-efficient Safe Heat Oil-Filled Radiator from industry leader, DeLonghi. Solo, the quiet radiator serves as an alternative heat source in small and medium rooms. The 110-volt radiator also complements a central heating system, bringing warmth to high-use areas while the main system runs on low for more cost-effective heating.
The radiator construction features rustproof metal for even heat distribution and resilience with pure diathermic oil completely sealed inside. Heat radiates through several vertical thermal tunnels while keeping the hot elements enclosed and out of the reach of fingers and other body parts and objects. Three power settings allow flexibility for diverse rooms and personal heating needs. For energy efficiency, the heater runs low at 600 watts or medium at 900 watts to slowly spread warmth. On high at 1500 watts, the radiator brings full heat to the room with extra speed. Users direct the room's temperature for comfort with an adjustable thermostat. With a 24-hour programmable timer, the heater offers 96 options in terms of temperature, wattage, duration, and activation time. "Delonghi space heater for guest bedroom" 2010-08-23
By Walter C. Hobbs (Thiensville, WI, US)
This was a very good purchase in regard both [a] to the product itself (it works well in the way that the published description says it should work) and [b] in the delivery process -- right on time on the day promised.

"Really, really nice." 2010-07-12
By Kawakami
All in all, I'm very happy with this item.
Pros:
Very consistent heat (not a lot of ups and downs)
Heat seems to rise more out of the top then out of the sides. My other one just gets hot all around which makes it harder to place in a room and more dangerous for kids.
Cons:
No digital thermostat.

"So far so good" 2010-04-23
By Fruit Bat (Colonial Beach, VA United States)
The winter of 09-10 killed the heat pump compressor that heated and cooled my upstairs (two large open rooms). Because of its age, I had to either replace the whole system (air handler, too), or take a chance on replacing just the compressor with hope nothing else major fails. I decided on the latter and bought the Delonghi for auxiliary heat. My plan is to run the repaired heat pump as little as possible in winter and use it primarily for cooling in summer. Since it was the end of winter, the Delonghi didn't get a full workout, but it worked far better than I'd anticipated. I'm still trying to find the best settings, but I think it's going to do the job. I was very concerned about leaving it on 24-7, but after checking the outlet and cord (many times!) for heat buildup, I relaxed and let it do its thing. Since I didn't use it for a full season, I withheld a star. I may need another one to satisfactorily heat the entire space for a full season, but wouldn't hesitate buying the same unit. It's clean, quiet, takes up little space -- and it works.

So far this has been a good unit. I use it to keep my plumbing in my RV from freezing in the winter. I have left my RV unattended with this set to "Anti Freeze" for about a month now and all is well. It hasn't burned the place down yet. We'll see what next season holds.

"Defective product" 2010-04-06
By Stephen Graumlich (st petersburg, fl usa)
We have owned many of these heaters over the years, using them in apartments we owned. We did not hesitate to buy another. However, the one we received is defective and we will begin its return immediately. The very first week we began using it, it started leaking oil. We have never had this in any of the other units we have owned. We will be returning for an exchange immediately. I am eager to see how smoothly this goes. My first communication will be with my credit card company, advising them of the need to return this purchase.

"Love this heater!" 2010-04-18
By T. Clair (New York)
I live in NY in a cold old building. This thing heats my bedroom, then I move it to my living room and it does a great job! Of course it takes all the moisture out of the air, but being nice and warm in our cold winters, it is totally worth it! I wish I would have bought it sooner. It is worth every penny! Oh yeah it is a little loud, but I can deal with it just to keep warm.

Have now used this product several times and I am fully satisfied with my purchase. It oscillates quietly and smoothly. Would like to have more heat, but this meets my expectations. No problems with the assembly or operation.

"Delonghi Space Heater - great" 2010-03-11
By Lisa Ross (New York, NY USA)
The best space heater I have ever had. Didn't need the remote control but my daughter says she uses it all the time at college. I ended up buying three of them.

"nice unit for the money" 2010-03-08
By S. Anderson
So far, I am happy with this heater. Set up was very easy, and I like the remote control. I only gave it 4 stars because it's not as powerful as I had hoped. It takes quite awhile to heat our family room.

"Does what it says. Works well." 2010-03-03
By The Engineer
I bought this for back up heat in the house/shop, but am using it daily in the greenhouse. The freeze setting is ideal, as the heater comes on when the temperature drops below 45F. I no longer need a separate temperature control (the existing one is now used exclusively for the vent fan). Only one glitch with these modern appliances with digital controls....when the electric goes out, even for a second, the controller shuts off.

"An Excellent Heater For The Price" 2010-09-13
By Nathan Hannold
I live on the basement floor of my home and needless to say it can get quite cold during the Fall and Winter months of the year. I have been looking around for a suitable product that fit my needs, when I finally stumbled upon this product while on Amazon. It seemed almost instinct to buy the Dimplex CS3311 as soon as the product appeared on the page, the stove had quite a unique charm to it, unlike many generic white heaters I see being peddled around, and the multitude of positive reviews took any uncertainty I had out of this purchase. When the heater arrived via UPS about 5 days later I was thrilled to find out that it was pre-assembled and that it was virtually ready right out of the box.
*PROS*
+ Warmer than most run of the mill heaters.
+ Much cheaper than I expected
+8 cents per hour with heat
+3 cents per hour with just flame
+ The flame looks quite lifelike in all lighting situations except in direct sunlight
+ It can heat up a 300sq ft area in a little over 2 hours
+ The casing is made of metal, not plastic
+ It is light enough for most people to move easily
+ Remote control
*CONS*
- Makes a strange noise when the fan kicks on when turned on, but goes away in a couple of seconds
- May be too small than some would like
Overall I am very pleased with this heater and I would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting an electric heater.

"It's like a hologram of a real fire" 2010-08-20
By John Parsons (SF Bay Area)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RVZ9KG0SUSR4F This little stove is simply amazing. So real. No fan blowing on orange cloth here. I opened it up to see how they do it. Simplicity defined... They have a shiny rotating spiked wheel below that reflects the colored light up onto a mirrored glass plate inside the firebox. This gives the illusion of a real fire. The heater is as rated and works almost silently except for the fan which is very quiet. You can sleep with this in your bedroom. The neat part is you can walk up to the stove to warm yourself as you would a real one. Your legs and feet get direct heat, as from a real stove. Top quaility construction. Although light, it's solid and not flimsy at all. I'd bet you could sit on it but I personally won't try that.
Two things that knocked a point off in my mind. Well, one for the point and another improvement suggestion...
1) The roating motor creates a very slight, almost inperceptable hum. As any electric motor would. It's only noticable in a completely quiet setting and not obnoxious at all. I'd imagine a rubber mounting might solve this. It's definitely not a reason put off a buy decision.
2) Making that motor variable speed would be a huge plus. Having the ability to change the "flame intensity" is nice to have. The fixed speed is a little "slower" than the real thing.
I'm so looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend at the beach this year. We'll be the envy of the RV crowd with a realistic fireplace in our motorhome.

"Realistic!!" 2010-04-25
By T. Deangelis
I am very impressed. It is so realistic. It shows sparks being thrown off; really! it is fabulous. Psychologically, it is relaxing too. I ordered it with the free shipping and it came 2 days, which is amazing because I am in remote location in Alaska. The item shipped from Pennsylvania. I did read the warrenty info, and it was interesting to note this item has no warranty in Hawaii, Alaska, and the provinces of Northern Canada. I bought this model because of the reviews being mostly good. The cheaper model had many bad reviews. I am pretty happy about this purchase, but only time will tell. I am concerned about the durablity of the product. I will update this review as time goes forward.

"Cute, but..." 2010-04-13
By B. Brown (Dayton, OH)
We were so excited about getting this after reading the reviews. It's really nice looking, and it does throw heat. However, we used this 6-7 evenings in one month just to help heat a small living room and our electric bill went up nearly $100. I don't know if we got a lemon or what, but seeing reviews on how efficient it was, that bill was shocking. We only use the flame now for ambiance. Too bad, because we want to love it, but we're afraid to use it because of the amount of power it draws.

So far this product has been really great. It heats the area in which i have it, very nicely. So far,so good.

"One of two leaked." 2010-09-09
By David Burrell (Nevada)
I admit that I purchased two of these units from Lowes last year on a close-out sale for only $29.99 each. But when one of the units started leaking oil after two months of use, the shipping cost to have it replaced or repaired by DeLonghi was $16.00 more than I had paid for the unit. So, I mixed up an epoxy compound, about $4.00 worth, and plugged the leak myself. It has not leaked since, but both of my Chinese manufactured units are of much lessor quality, and only have about 60% to 70% of the heating capability, when brand new, as my ten year old Canadian made unit that I bought at Home Depot for a full price of $39.95. Both units, after only a total of about five months of light use are starting to fail when used to try warm up a small area of around 50 square feet.

DeLonghi EW7707CM Oil-filled Radiator with ComforTemp Technology VERY EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT. EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. I AM WARM AND COZY. EASY TO ADJUST AND REGULATE---I CAN HAVE AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE HEAT AS I WANT WITHOUT A LOT OF ADJUSTMENTS. IF I TURN OFF, IT COMES BACK UP TO DESIRED TEMP. QUICKLY. MAKES A CLICKING SOUND WHEN THERMOSTAT TURNS ON AND OFF.

"Heats well but smells bad" 2010-05-25
By John Fleischhauer (Sonoma, CA USA)
I had great expectations for this heater after reading other reviews, but my wife and I were extremely disappointed when we got the heater and plugged it in. It heated our 200 square foot room nicely, but it gave off a strong odor that I thought smelled like "hot metal" and my wife desribed as "hot oil." After talking to a friend who had a similar heater, and reading various reviews on the internet, we thought maybe it was a "new" smell that would burn off. In fact the manual states that there may be a smell that will burn off after about 2 hours. Other reviews we read were more pessimistic, stating the smell never burned off. We shared that latter experience. I put the heater out on a porch and kept in on for several days... well over 30 hours. The smell never went away when the heater was on and even on the open porch we could smell it within from couple of feet away.

"The truth about ComforTemp "energy-saving" technology" 2010-05-15
By Ed in SF
Don't get me wrong, this is a nice heater and works perfectly for our application (to heat our son's room which is located directly above the garage and thus colder than the rest of the house). I'll let the other reviews speak for most of the features of the unit. What I do have a comment on is the ComforTemp "energy-saving" technology, which in my opinion, is just part of the whole green marketing fad. This includes making products/features appear to be green when actually they are not necessarily so. The ComforTemp "feature" does nothing more than override the thermostat dial and set the thermostat on the unit to ~70 degF. The box shows in big letters "27% Energy Saving," but if you read the fine print, it says "Based on internal tests on same model comparing energy using the ComforTemp function versus adjustable thermostat at maximum setting." So they are claiming an energy savings versus the maximum thermostat setting that would make the room way too hot. This is like saying a light bulb is energy saving because you turn it on only when you need it, rather than leaving it on all the time -- i.e., it only saves energy when compared to an absurd, high-energy-consuming scenario. In our application, we actually save energy by not using the ComforTemp function, because we found that, with it turned on, the room gets heated to ~73 degF. We set the thermostat to a little above the "1" on the dial and that keeps the room at ~69 degF -- warm enough to keep our son from getting cold at night. If anything, call the ComforTemp feature a convenience feature -- for those who don't want to bother with the adjustable thermostat. Call it a night light feature -- because it emits a significant green glow. Just don't call it an energy-saving feature. In my opinion, the best thing to do would be to remove the ComforTemp function altogether and just charge less for the heater! But of course the market research probably shows that if you pretend it's green you'll sell more units ...

"Toasty warm bedroom now" 2010-04-14
By M. Park (Manassas Park, VA United States)
Bought this heater for my boys room that is always cold since it is located directly above the garage. The heater we had prior to this one dried out the air which was never good for my allergy/asthma boy. This heater gives a nice warm feel to the air without drying out. Great price. I am considering buying a second one for the basement.
